Re: Note on Configuring Domains: Horizontal

Hi Kelly.
No problems. If possible, yes.. I would like to request some tips to understand the concepts related to this figure when configuring the WRF model domains. Thanks.

Re: metgrid crashes: get_min(): No items left in the heap

Hi Bart, Thanks for the information! In the second test I did, I considered the SST to be constant. I did this to try to control all the possibilities and understand the errors. In addition, it's a common practice to consider some fields constant in short simulations, such as the SST (slide 40, http...

Re: metgrid crashes: get_min(): No items left in the heap

Hi Bart. Thanks for sharing your code (ghrsst-to-intermediate.f90)! I've used this code to convert a MUR SST file and it was easy to use. I will explain the tests I did. - I successfully ran metgrid using the files FILE:YYYY-MM-DD_HH and SST:YYYY-MM-DD_HH at the same time-frequency, without the LAND...

Re: metgrid crashes: get_min(): No items left in the heap

Hi Bart. I also have some similar issues on how to create intermediate files of the MUR SST. Another researcher and I wrote a Fortran code to read the MUR SST NetCDF files and write the intermediate files (SST:YYYY-MM-DD_HH). First, we didn't put any information in the code to write the SST mask. I ...

Note on Configuring Domains: Horizontal

Hi all, I would like to request some tips to understand a figure (attached) from the WRF model Tutorial. The figure is related to the horizontal configuration of the domains. Unlike other best practices, I found this note to be more subjective and more difficult to apply when configuring the model d...

6th Order Horizontal Diffusion (diff_6th_opt) recommendation

Hello, I would like to ask about the 6th Order Horizontal Diffusion (diff_6th_opt). The default option, the option that comes in the namelist.input, is diff_6th_opt=0. However, the ARW User’s Guide Version 4 informs that "Option 2 is recommended". I would like to ask why option 2 is recommended? or ...

Masked interpolation of SST

Hello, I'm running the WRF model and I'm using an external SST data with 1 km resolution and the GFS data as initial and boundary conditions. To conduct an appropriated masked interpolation of SST data, I followed the suggestion given in http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/FAQ_files/FAQ_wps_input_dat...

Re: ERROR: The input file appears to be from a pre-v4 version of WRF initialization routines

I verified that the size of the last two wrfrst_* files were smaller than the previous hours. I suppose that they were not created properly and when I tried to restart, the model didn't do it. I removed the last wrfrst_* files with smaller sizes, edited the start_hour in the namelist.input, and now ...

ERROR: The input file appears to be from a pre-v4 version of WRF initialization routines

Hello, I am running WRF Version 4.0.3 and I got the following error when I tried to restart the simulation: Error trying to read metadata You can try 1) ensure that the input file was created with WRF v4 pre-processors, or 2) use force_use_old_data=T in the time_control record of the namelist.input ...
