Re: METGRID cannot process global 0.01 deg SST WPS intermediate format

Hi Karl/Michael

Thanks for your help....I added access='stream' in the write statement in ungrib
and the read statement in metgrid for the WPS intermediate files. That did the trick.

Re: METGRID cannot process global 0.01 deg SST WPS intermediate format

HI Will, Thanks for sending those directories. That makes things a lot easier. Are you using serial or parallel processing for metgrid? If you didn't compile with a parallel option (e.g., dmpar), I'd recommend that. I'd also recommend making sure that you have large file support (setenv WRFIO_NCD_L...

Re: METGRID cannot process global 0.01 deg SST WPS intermediate format

Hi Karl It looks like you are at MMM. My files are on cheyenne: cheyenne4: /glade/scratch/chengw/joe/wrf/SST:2020-04-27_09_0.01deg (0.01 deg global SST) cheyenne4: /glade/scratch/chengw/joe/wrf/SST:2020-04-27_09_0.01deg_every_10points (0.01 deg SST sampled every 10 points) My run directory is in che...

METGRID cannot process global 0.01 deg SST WPS intermediate format

Hi I have a 0.01 deg global SST in WPS intermediate format: 36000 x 17999 grid points. I read this into metgrid as a constant field. This is too big. metgrid just skips this. Is there a upper limit on the grid dimension in metgrid? Is there a way to change this? If I coarsen the grid to every 10 poi...

Re: Questions on using the ECMWF IFS forecast data with WPS

Hi Yongxin I would do the following to separate the file into two files: wgrib -s P1D12111200121618001.grb > list.grib1 wgrib2 -s P1D12111200121618001.grb > list.grib2 wgrib -i P1D12111200121618001.grb -o P1D12111200121618001.grib1 -grib < list.grib1 wgrib2 -i P1D12111200121618001.grb -grib P1D12111...

using hydrometeor mixing ratios in GFS

Hi I am trying to initialize WRF with hydrometeor mixing ratios in GFS: ice, rain, snow and cloud. I added the following to the Vtable 153 | 100 | * | | QC | kg/kg | Cloud Mixing Ratio | 0 | 1 | 22 | 100 | 170 | 100 | * | | QR | kg/kg | Rain Water Mixing Ratio | 0 | 1 | 24 | 100 | 178 | 100 | * | | ...

Re: 3-km mesh

Michael: thanks for your suggestion...that's what I figured. The GWD is probably not needed for the 3 km mesh.

Re: 3-km mesh

Thanks for your suggestion, Michael. I was able to get Step 1 to work. When I got to Step 2 (I used 16 nodes but 1 core each), I got segmentation fault: forrtl: severe (174): SIGSEGV, segmentation fault occurred Image PC Routine Line Source init_atmosphere_m 000000000092CC04 for__signal_handl Unknow...

Re: 3-km mesh

Michael: I did as you suggested in Step 1 (I also did this earlier too but re-trying to get logs). I got some error message that I suspect that it has to do with memory. I am attaching my logs. I used the same executable that was able to generate the 10-km mesh. So if it's not memory then I am not s...

Re: 3-km mesh

Michael: thanks again for providing the 3-km mesh. The file provided ( x1.65536002.cvt.part.256) is configured for 256 cores. It seems that on our system, 256 cores is insufficient to generate the mesh. Could you please provide a file for more cores? For the 10km mesh, the file provided is x1.589824...

Problem with running MPAS with ERA Interim model level files

Hi: I have a problem with running MPAS with ERA interim model level files. I followed the procedure in http://metclim.ucd.ie/2018/03/wrfv3-9-1-with-era-interim-data-on-orr2/ to get the WPS intermediate file for pressure, RH, and GHT in addition to using ungrib.exe to get the intermediate files for t...

3-km mesh

Hi

Where can I find the x1.*graph.info* and x1.*.grid.* files for the 3-km
(uniform) mesh?

I don't see it in

https://mpas-dev.github.io/atmosphere/a ... eshes.html

Thanks!
