Re: RE: How can I extract the Topography Map from WRF Output file to be used in WAsP

Hi Ming,

I mean how can I extract the WRF topography map from the WRF output file in a .map format so that I can use it into WAsP.

Appreciate your assistance and advice.

RE: How can I extract the Topography Map from WRF Output file to be used in WAsP

Hi, I wish to couple high-resolution WRF wind data at 1 km x 1 km grid resolution into WAsP for micro siting. How can I extract the topography map from the WRF file which I can use in WAsP to remove the effects of the mesoscale topography via the generalization method and then later use high-resolut...

Hi,

I have managed to fix the problem with the dimensionality issue.

I am able to plot wind speeds at higher heights now.

Thanks

Re: Output Wind Speeds at Specific Height Above Ground e.g. 60m

Hi,

Please find attached a sample script to extract a few atmospheric parameters (wind, temperature, pressure and relative humidity) at higher heights using NCL.

I hope it is helpful.

Re: Plotting monthly/annual average wind speed maps at higher heights (> 10 m)

Hi, I am using the WRF model to simulate winds for the purpose of mesoscale wind resource assessment. I seek assistance in terms of plotting average monthly/annual wind speed maps at higher heights (> 10 m) using NCL. I am able to plot the monthly/annual wind speed maps @ 10 m successfully but when ...

Re: RE: Contrasting WRF output results at higher resolution from 1.33 km - 1 & 0.8 km

Hi, I don't think I am the one your colleagues are mentioning. Previously, I had some problems with the "mismatch between observed vs simulated diurnal cycle (https://forum.mmm.ucar.edu/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=5649) and the problem was solved by increasing the resolution from 1.33 km to 1 km and...

Re: RE: Contrasting WRF output results at higher resolution from 1.33 km - 1 & 0.8 km

Hi, I tried the option of using Topo_wind = 1,1,1 under the physics settings of the namelist.input file but there is no improvement in the results. Is there anything else that I can do? Also, is it normal for the WRF model to behave differently on either side (windward and leeward) of the islands us...

Re: RE: WRF model on HPC - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Hi, The post you mention is for a smaller domain 3 (@ 1km = 201 x 201 and @ 0.8 km = 241 x 241) just over one of the major islands. The current one where I am facing problems with a segmentation fault (core dumped) is for a bigger domain 3 (@ 1 km = 401 x 401) which cover all the bigger islands. Ple...

Hi,

Please find attached the namelist.input files for the 3 simulations (initial, test1, and test2).

I used WRF v3.9.1.1 and I did not make any changes to the WRF code.

Appreciate your assistance and advice.

RE: Contrasting WRF output results at higher resolution from 1.33 km - 1 & 0.8 km

Hi, I have run simulations using the WRF model for two-way nested domains for a tropical country with two major islands for the purpose of mesoscale wind resource mapping. The 3 domains initially used was D1 = 20 km x 20 km, D2 = 4 km x 4 km and D3 = 1.33 km x 1.33 km. With this simulation configura...

Hi,
I am trying to verify station locations for data extraction of T2 and winds.

I want to know how can I check whether a particular station location (latitude and longitude) is on land or sea surface from the WRFOUT file using NCL.

Appreciate guidance and assistance.
