How is SST computed in the WRF model? (RESOLVED)

Dear WRF-experts, I am running a simulation using GFS forecast data. I cant see a SST variable in the input files (see attached output file). On the other hand, in the ARWpost ctl file there is SST output. So I wonder how does WRF calculate the SST? Where can I find information on this? I'll appreci...

Re: Correct geog_data_res entry for lake+modified land cover

Hi Ming-Chen, You are right! Thank you for this. For (2), I used the following: geog_data_res = 'usgs_lakes+usgs_10m','usgs_lakes+usgs_30s','usgs_lakes+usgs_30s', Is this also okay? I modified both landuse_30s and landuse_30s_with_lakes. The landuse/land cover plot looks the same if I used your sugg...

How to get total solar radiation from WRFOUT

Dear WRF-experts,

I am using ARWpost to post process WRFOUT files.

I am wondering how I can get total solar radiation from the wrfout files. It seems that it is not a direct output of ARWpost.

I'll appreciate any help on this.

Re: How to plot spatial distribution of roughness length Z0

@kwerner, Thank you for the fast response. I want to plot the USGS and MODIS roughness lengths before running WRF. Is it the one from VEGPARM.TBL? But Im confused. There are four in this TBL: USGS (with Z0min and Z0max) MODIFIED_IGBP_MODIS_NOAH (with Z0min and Z0max) USGS-RUC (Z0 only) MODI-RUC (Z0 ...

Dear WRF-experts,

I cant seem to find any tutorial online on how I can plot the roughness length (Z0).

This is also not located in the geo_em files.

Any ideas on how to plot this?

I'll appreciate any help on this.

Hi @kwerner,

Yes, it is in local time. The peak is around 1PM LST or 05 UTC.

Thanks,

@kwerner

Please see the attached namelists, wfout and fdda logs.

The rsl files were deleted. The error i mentioned here is in the wrfout log.

I'll try to get the rsl files in our runs later. Ill repost them here.

Dear WRF-experts, The attached file shows the time series of the simulated surface temperature. Problem is that there is always a jump in temperature by ~2C around 5 UTC. How to replace default topography in WRF?

Dear WRF experts,

I have a geotiff file of srtm (90m) topography. I would like to use it as the topography for my WRF run at 25 km.

Any suggestions on how I can do this in WRF? Or any tutorials?

How to remove a TC in the boundary condition

Hello,

Is there a way to remove a TC in the boundary conditions in a WRF run?
I tried the TC bogusing scheme before but it is only for relocating the center of the vortex.

Any suggestions on how I can do this in WRF?

I'll appreciate any help.
