xland is overwritten in idealized case

Dear all, I am running an idealzied WRF-LES case using WRF 3.8.1. "XLAND" is always overwritten by "1" even though I set "ideal_xland=2". Any idea about this? Restart without wrfrst files

Dear all,

I have a simulation that has run for 47 hours wall-clock time and the simulation time was just 7 hours.
Since my "restart_interval_h = 12", no "wrfrst" files were written.

Are there ways to restart the simulation from the latest snapshot of "wrfout"?

This is solved by explicitly set "large file support" before configure WRF 3.8.1.

Thank you for your reply, Ming. I see from the namelist that periodic boundary conditions are only applied to x and y direction instead of z direction. This means one still need forcing at the z direction, like surface fluxes, divergence, and cooling scheme at the top such that clouds can be formed....

I have now changed "sf_sfclay_physics" to 91 and my print statement was printed out.
But when I checked the problem in the code, it was not obvious to me why "sf_sfclay_physics=1"
option does not enter into my print statement.
