Re: wrf-fire wrf.exe error:crash: prop_ls: increase the fire region

Hi Xuelin,
Are you trying to run a real-data case to simulate wild fire? If so, please find relevant information at the website here:
https://github.com/openwfm/WRF-SFIRE. We no longer maintain and support WRF-FIRE.

Re: spec_bdy_width question

HI Stefan,
It turns out that WRF ignores the relax and spec widths, and simply takes the total. It says total-1 = spec width, and the rest is relax. This explains the behavior.

Re: Long simulation time on some of the time-steps

Chang,
I believe this issue is related to radiation. Can you try the option: radt = 9, 9, 9 and see whether the performance is better?
Please keep me updated. Thanks.

Re: Turning off sensible heat flux

San,
You may try to set sensible heat flux to zero either in the surface scheme you use, or set it to zero in surface driver. I suppose either way howled work.
Please try and keep me updated about the results.

Re: spec_bdy_width question

Stefan,
I would expect different results when the relax_zone and spec_zone are different in different experiments. I have no answer to your question at present. I will talk to ur expert and get back to you soon. Thanks for your patience.

Re: Lake SST

Hi Jiali,
I just have one question: when you ungrib ERA5 data, did you include the surface invariant datafile? This is more like an issue that the landsea mask is not available in your input data.
By the way, where did you download the ERA5 data?

Re: Restart without wrfrst files

Xiang-Yu,
There is no way to restart WRF from a time when no wrfrs file exists. You may restart from the latest time that wrfrst exists, and continue from there.

Re: How to find the top level of the planetary boundary layer in WRF?

Hi, You may look at the height of each model levels by (ph + phb)/9.8, then find the one that is closest to PBLLH. Using that level as the approximate level of PBLH. Does this meet your requirement? For your 2nd question, how to calculate CO2 concentration based on PBLH, I don't have an answer. We a...

Arthur, Would you please change the code from: grid%ts_qnrain_profile(n,i,k) = grid%moist(ix,k,iy,p_qnr) to grid%ts_qnrain_profile(n,i,k) = grid%scalar(ix,k,iy,p_qnr) (also the same changes for other number concentrations such as QNI, QNS, etc.) Then recompile the codes? Please let me know whether y...

Re: Run real.exe again for restart run?

Hi,
When you run real.exe, if set_update is activated, you will produce wrfbdy and also wrflowinput files. Once set_update = 1, you need to save both wrfbdy and wrflowinput for the restart run.

Re: real.exe': nested run - malloc(): smallbin double linked list corrupted:

Hi, I looked at your namelist.wps and nameless.input. There is only one issue I am concerned, that you set stand_lon different to ref_lon. It is recommended to set them to be the same. However, I don't think this is the reason that REAL cannot run. Besides, your post indicated that you run with pola...
