Hi all,

I'm trying to setup an operational configuration using MADWRF and including climatological aerosols.

According to the WRF-Solar Guide, a proper configuration would be:

mp_physics = 28,
use_aero_icbc = .true.
ra_lw_physics = 4,
ra_sw_physics = 4,
aer_opt = 3

and I understand that these are the files for the aerosols:

https://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/src/wps_files/QNWFA_QNIFA_SIGMA_MONTHLY.dat.bz2

(If I'm wrong, please let me know)

However MADWRF requires a mp_physics = 96. Has anybody the experience of using MADWRF and aerosols?, What is the right value for mp_physics using both approaches ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
To use climatological aerosols in the MAD-WRF passive mode (mp = 96) set up aer_opt = 1 together with ra_sw_physics = 4 (RRTMG).
No need to use the use_aero_icbc option.
Pedro.
