Running wrf.exe for 96 hours in two steps

This post was from a previous version of the WRF&MPAS-A Support Forum. New replies have been disabled and if you have follow up questions related to this post, then please start a new thread from the forum home page.

I would like to know if it is possible to run the WRF (wry.exe) for 96
hours by interrupting it at the 72nd hour and then resuming it from 72 to
96 hours.

To be precise, I managed to do this by getting two separate wrf output files, wrfout_00 (the first 72 hours) and wrfout_72 (from 72 to 96 hour). Is there a way for wrf to continue the previous execution by completing the wrfout_00 file up to time 96?

I apologize if the question is trivial or if the information is
already present on the net.

Thank you so much for your support,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
WRF has the capability to restart (continue from the previous run). Please take a look at the website that explains how to use the restart function:
https://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/docs/user_guide_v4/v4.3/users_guide_chap5.html#restart

Please let me know ion you have any issue when implementing this restart function.
