Hello.

Where can I find information on acoustic/wave generation and propagation in WRF ARW?

I know it will vary depending on configuration, resolution, atmospheric properties (altitude, e.g.), etc..

I am interested in the detail to which WRF might represent such dynamics across the spectrum of frequencies (from ultra- to infra- sound). Or the degree to which such (acoustic) modes are filtered.

Are there good references (technical notes? refereed journal articles?) showing spectra of amplitudes/energy of acoustic modes, given various physics and/or numerical options (concerning damping, e.g.), and the realism (or lack thereof) of representation of acoustic simulation, for example?

Thank you.

Hi,
You can find information in our Technical Note, which can be found here. Just click on the version of the model that you are using:

You may also find some useful information in this talk on the subject, given at our WRF Tutorial:
