The National Center for Atmospheric Research seeks a motivated Project Scientist to work with Andrew Gettelman and Bill Skamarock on a highly collaborative project with Colorado State University to build a new high-resolution coupled climate model called ‘Earthworks’. Earthworks will be a high resolution version of the Community Earth System Model. The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly in the design and development phases of the project, including developing and contributing code, presenting results at scientific meetings, and preparing peer- reviewed publications. A PhD in atmospheric or related sciences is required. Experience with climate model output, climate or global weather model development and a solid understanding of the climate system and atmospheric physics is desirable.
