errors when run wrf.exe afer modifying wrfinput

Hi, everyone. I have one problem and need help in running wrf.exe.

I would like to run meso-scale simulation case using WRF 4.2. The 3-nested simulations using wrfinput with no changes are fine. but the simulations fail when I modify the soil moisture like adding 0.03 to the original SMOIS of wrfinput_d03. Then I believe, the changes in soil moisture in wrfinput_d03

I have run the same 3-nested simulations using WRF3.6 and never found such a problem.

Hi,
As this is giving a segmentation fault, which isn't a very intuitive error, you may have to do some debugging to figure out the problem. Clearly your changes are what is causing the issue, and the reason it is found with this WRF version, as opposed to an older one may be due to some code updates, making it more sensitive. I'd advise taking a look at this FAQ to see how you can debug the code. From there, you can hopefully track down exactly where in the code the problem is occurring.
