I've tested the new PBL-LES scheme in V4.2 in idealized settings (a channel with a patch of forest in the beginning of the channel), and immediately see that there may be an issue with the setup using open boundaries (north-south in this case). Attached is a ncview screen dump where both MYNN and the new 3DTKE scheme are shown. Red lines are found at the upper and lower boundary indicating high wind speed, but this is not present in the MYNN scheme case. Any reason why not?
