The University of Miami's Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) has a new opportunity for an assistant scientist to work on hurricane model development with HAFS in association with NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory in Miami.
The successful candidate will conduct research and develop new features with current and future research versions of the HAFS/UFS model. This will be focused on mesoscale modeling of tropical cyclones, testing and improving physics parameterizations in the model. Additional work will involve interpreting mesoscale model simulations of tropical cyclones, as well as developing data analysis and visualization programs.
This position is appropriate for a candidate with a PhD and at least one year of relevant work experience.
Applicants with WRF or other model experience are encouraged to apply.
