Cut wrfrst file to continue simulation in smaller domain

Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to cut a subdomain of a wrfrst file to restart my simulation just in the smaller domain without having to start again the simulation.
Also, I have already used CDO tools to remap wrfout files to different subdomains or resolutions but in this case I just want to cut the file (and prepare the proper wrbdy file) to do a restart simulation.
Is it possible?
Thank you.

The only program that works similarly to what you're proposing if the ndown program (scroll down just a bit when you launch that page), but I'm not sure it would work straight from a restart. I know you can restart the model after running the ndown program and then wrf.exe, but ndown is so finicky and particular about what it allows, I will be surprised if it will work from a restart file. You're welcome to give it a try, though! Otherwise, you can try using ndown to create the finer-resolution domain, and then restart when necessary after running wrf.exe.

Finally it worked! I was able to cut que wrfrst file and use it in the last step of the ndown simulation. Now I have almost continuous precipitation even after changing the domain.
Thanks.
