dust dry deposition velocity and issues with large rsl.out files

Hello,

I'm trying to test sensitivity to the dry deposition velocity of dust particles in a dust storm from March 2025. I'd like to use the different dry deposition velocity schemes with dust emissions. I tried using the GOCART aerosol module with only dust (chem_opt = 401, dust_opt = 3) but found that I could not test sensitivity to dry deposition velocity schemes as it seems GOCART has only one option (aer_drydep_opt = 1). Is this correct?

Then, I began using the MOSAIC aerosol scheme with 4 dust bins (Chem_opt = 7) coupled with the AFWA dust emission scheme (dust_opt = 3) in hopes to be able to test the sensitivity to different dry deposition schemes (aer_drydep_opt) such as the Binkowski and Shankar 1995, Peters and Eiden 1992, and Zhang et al. 2001 schemes.

However, as I've been using the MOSAIC configuration, I've had problems with large rsl.out files that repeat the same error over and over such as "refi is larger than lookup table range and reset to maximum bound at S W band". The simulations run very slowly and the rsl.out files take up an enormous amount of space

First, what is the best approach to testing sensitivity to dust particle dry deposition velocity? Can I use the simple GOCART method or do I need to use MOSAIC? I only need dust and I do not need all the other chemistry/aerosols that come with MOSAIC.

Second, what do the messages in the rsl.out files mean? Is there a way around this?

Many thanks!

If needed, I can attach my namelist.input or any other documents necessary.
