Error in running wrf

I tried running WRF using ERA5 data and I get this error when trying to run wrf.exe

probably due to the first domain being too small.

I've changed my grid sizes in accordance to the recommended options and I still get the same error.

The model crashed immediately after wrf.exe started, which indicates that something is wrong in your input data.

Since NCAR CISL has completely phased out whole file download, subsetting, and campaign storage access to ERA5 Reanalysis GRIB files, I would suggest that you run this case with other forcing data, for example GFS.

We will provide tools to process ERA5 in intermediate format, probably in mid January of 2025.
 
I've changed my input data to GFS and I still got the same error using the same namelists

I am suspicious that something is wrong in your WPS process. This is because GFS data has been well tested and widely used by the WRF community. I don't think the GFS data could be an issue.

Would you please describe step-by-step how you download GFS and run WPS?

Also, please upload your namelist.wps for me to take a look.

I downloaded my GFS data here within a subregion and I just did a normal ungrib, geogrid, and metgrid in WPS.

We are not sure whether the GFS data in NOAA NCEP is complete and contains all variables required for WRF run. If not, WPS/WRF will fail and it takes time to debug what is wrong.

Can you type out exactly what codes you are putting into the terminal? Did you put anything in the bashrc file?

The physics scheme sf_sfclay_physics = 91 is an obsolete option. Can you change it to

sf_sfclay_physics =1,

The try again?

By the way, running WRF with a single processor is not recommended. This is because the model will run very slow and the run-time memory could be not sufficient. Please compile WRF in dmpar mode and run with multiple processors.

Hello. Thank you for your help. I just recently solved this issue. I just accidentally changed the time step denominator to 0 so it returned a time step on "NaN" in rsl.error file.
