Extrapolating Wind Speed below 10m

Hi, I am trying to extract wind speed below 10m. What function should I use so I can extrapolate it below 10m? Thanks
 
One option is to use the log wind profile assumption. See equation (2) of Cao & Fovell (MWR, 2016): https://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/full/10.1175/MWR-D-15-0147.1 .
