How much larger than the domain does input data need to be ?

Hi,

I'm running a triple nested WRF from GFS data with 9, 3 and 1km resolutions. All domains are a liitle bit over 100 grid squares. How much larger than the outer domain should the GFS data be for best results?

Are you asking about domain size (i.e., number of grid cells), or grid-spacing (resolution)? If the former, you should just download the global GFS data - subsets of data can cause unnecessary issues. If the later, then you want d01 to be a grid ratio of about 3:1 or 5:1.
