Hello,
I'm currently in the process of setting up a WRF simulation that uses the ARISE-SAI-1.5 GCM (variant of CESM2) as initial boundary conditions. My current domain encompasses CONUS, of which I will be doing climate simulations for various ensemble members. Upon initial setup, I included SST data from ARISE into WPS and adjusted the METGRID.TBL and LANDSEA mask accordingly, to get the plot attached. SST values look good, but obviously locations like the Great Lakes are masked and count as land. I could rely on the default behavior of WPS and have the closest SSTs interpolated there, but this results are weird SKINTEMP values in various locations (see second attached plot).
To help SKINTEMPS to appear more realistic, how could I go about incorporating lake temperatures (which is a variable available in ARISE) into WPS? Would it make sense to merge the lake temperatures and SST data into one variable? I feel this would conflict with the LANDMASK, thus not allowing lake temperatures to be represented. I have attached my current handling of SST data in MEGRID.TBL. Also for reference, I've attached what the lake temperature (TLAKE) and SST data from ARISE look like by default.
Let me know if there is any other useful information that I can attach to this post.
Thanks!
