How to run the WRF using "RUC Land Surface Model"?

Hi everyone,

I would like to run the WRF with "sf_surface_physics = 3" ( RUC Land Surface Model). In the user guide, it has been mentioned that while using this land surface option, you should provide the following data:

1. High-resolution dataset for soil and land-use types;

2. Climatological albedo for snow-free areas;

3. Spatial distribution of maximum surface albedo in the presence of snow cover;

Fraction of vegetation types in the grid cell to take into account sub-grid-scale heterogeneity in computation of surface parameters;

4. Fraction of soil types within the grid cell;

5. Climatological greenness fraction;

6. Climatological leaf area index;

7. Climatological mean temperature at the bottom of soil domain;

8. Real-time sea-ice concentration;

9. Real-time snow cover to correct cycled in RAP and HRRR snow fields.

However, I have no idea how I can provide these data. Would you please help me in this regard? (any website, documentation, etc.)

Morovever, after providing these data, in which folder should I please them? (in geog folder? where the the./geogrid.exe uses data).


So please kindly advise and help me in these regards.

These information are available in WPS static datasets. Please follow the normal steps to run WPS, and then move on to run WRF.

Note that with sf_surface_physics = 3, you need to set flag_sm_adj = 1 to adjust soil moisture for RUC in real.exe.

num_soil_layers = 6 or 9 for RUC land surface scheme.
