How to view geogrid

hello, I am made a domain , I was wondering if I could see it in black and white so that I would have an idea where my domain is pointing. I used plotgrids_new.ncl and I have attached the picture. Is there any correct process to efficiently visualize while setting up domain?.

Also a follow up question, what should be the domain resolution /size to get better result with Urban canopy model(UCM). I am planning to make a city a parent domain and a place of city a nest domain. IS it a good approach?

Hi,
Regarding your question about plotting the domain, I don't believe the plotgrids_new.ncl script has a black and white option, but it's possible you can play around with the colors in the script. There are no map outlines because it looks like your domain is right in the middle of a landmass (and within the borders of a country). You can play around with the size settings in namelist.wps (e.g., increase e_we and e_sn) to make the domain bigger and then you will be able to see the country borders.

I would suggest looking at the recommendations in the WPS best practices page. This will help you to set up a reasonable domain. As for resolution for urban parameterization, I believe 3km is probably a good resolution to use. See the UCM site for more information.
