Microphysics Tendency Output

Hello,

I am running simulations of a derecho and would like to be able to output the individual microphysics tendencies. It is my understanding that the h_diabatic and qv_diabatic variables are the total latent heating and total microphysics QV tendency, but how would I modify the code to also output the individual components of these totals (i.e., latent heating and QV tendencies due to graupel/snow melting or tendencies due to rainwater evaporation)? I know that I would have to modify the microphysics module and driver, as well as make some changes to the Registry. I believe the variables I am looking for are already being calculated within the code, but I am unsure of what to do to get them to show up in my wrfout files. What would be the exact changes I need to make to the code to get these to output, and are there any other files I need to change as well? This is for the Thompson microphysics scheme.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

If the fields are already in the WRF/Registry/Registry.EM_COMMON file, you may be able to follow the instructions for the runtime I/O option. If not, you may find these instructions helpful - although these apply to a local variable, you should be able to use the guide as a rough template for what you're doing.
