Missing values in input data

Hello,

I am trying to run a regional climate simulation with WRF that is forced by a global climate simulation. To use the output from the global simulation as input, I first interpolate the 3D variables to pressure levels to generate the data needed by metgrid, but the data is not extrapolated below ground and those values are left as missing data. Metgrid, real and wrf run successfully, but I get a strange simulation output. If the values are below ground, they should not be used by real and therefore should not affect the simulation. Could you please give me some guidance to understand if the interpolation to pressure levels is the cause of the wrong simulation output.

Thank you

The large-scale forcing data for WRF are on pressure level or model level. Over some areas like the Rocky Mountains, pressure levels (e.g., 1000 hpa, 925 hpa) could be underground. Data at such levels are extrapolated. However, these data are not used when creating initial and boundary conditions for WRF. Therefore, I am suspicious that your issue might be attributed to some other reasons.
