MPAS init_atmosphere creates init.nc with zero cloud water mixing ratio

Hello,

I use ERA5 dataset from ERA5 hourly data on pressure levels from 1940 to present. I follow the steps in How to use ERA5 Data From Copernicus Database to ungrib downloaded ERA5 reanalysis data, which is successful.
Then, in MPAS 8.2.2, I use init_atmosphere, with QNWFA_QNIFA_SIGMA_MONTHLY.dat and ungribed files as input, to create real data init.nc. After init.nc is created, I check the variables in init.nc. I notice that, while most variables have nonzero data (e.g. qv), it shows that all values from variables qc (i.e. cloud water mixing ratio) and qr (Rain water mixing ratio) are zero. I hope that variables qc and qr use data from ERA5 reanalysis data (not zero). What should I do?

Thank you.

It is normal that qc and qr values are zero in the initial datafile, This is because MPAS initialization doesn't process qcloud and qrain. They are prognoctic variables once the model starts, and their values are independent of their initial values.
Please elet me know if you ave more questions.
