Can we do the MPAS run to see the transport of methane emissions in the global or regional domain?

If methane is treated as a passive tracer ( i.e., only consider its emission and transport without any chemical reaction processes), then both global and regional MPAS can simulate its transport. Please see the document here for more details.

Can I use any methane data as input other than GFS data and see the transport with the passive tracer method for any region and global simulation?
