Only domain-1 is presented in wrfinput when running a nested domain

Hello, I am recently running a 2-nested simulation for idealized tropical cyclone. I want to change some initial settings, thus I want to edit the wrfinput. However, after I run wrf.exe, I only get 1 wrfinput, which is wrfinput-d01 for the outer-most domain. Although the wrfinput number is less than my nest number, the simulation did successfully run, and I got the number of wrf-output as I want. Now I want to make some changes to my inner domain initialization, to the wrfinput-d02.

I am not sure whether my number of wrfinput now is correct, and I am not sure if I need to edit the parent domain input as well if I want to "edit the inner domain initialization". Do I need to make any changes to my namelist to get 2 wrfinput files?

I would suggest that you modify wrfinput_d01 for your sensitivity test. For the ideal TC case, initial condition for the child domain is derived from its parent domain, and thus it is expected that the changes in wrfinput_d01 will affect the initial data of D02.
We didn't do such tests before. Please try and let me know whether it works for you.
