open_hist_w : error opening /glade/derecho/scratch/... for writing.

Hello,

I have already successfully executed real. In running wrf I receive the following error: open_hist_w : error opening /glade/derecho/scratch/$USER/spillover_200612/wrfout_d03_2006-12-13_00:00:00 for writing.

That particular folder is empty. I have exhausted my troubleshooting checklist and am hoping somebody can spot what is going on.

Can you try with the option:

history_outname = "/glade/derecho/scratch/koszum/spillover_200612/wrfout_d<domain>_<date>"

Note that you should have "spillover_200612" under "/glade/derecho/scratch/koszum/"

Let me know whether it works.

@Ming Chen, specifying the user in history_outname fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.
