The Wind Energy Department at the Technical University of Denmark is looking for a highly motivated student interested in mesoscale modeling of future climate impacts on variable renewable energy (VRE) generation and energy systems.

In this PhD scholarship we are seeking a candidate with:

  • strong background in mesoscale or regional atmospheric sciences
  • a good understanding of climate and atmospheric processes, especially boundary layer meteorology.

In your work, you will:
  • develop, implement and validate the coupling of CMIP5/6 model output and mesoscale models for producing time series of VRE production and other weather-dependent variables
  • understand how future changes in climate influence VRE generation and its spatial and temporal co-variability
  • work closely with other researchers in power and energy system modeling.
