Recompiling WRF

Hello,

I was wondering what the best method is for recompiling WRF. I am currently running WRF v4.2.1 and have been suggested to use a newer version to solve some issues I was running into. Should I reinstall libraries, or would it be sufficient to create a new folder on the same level as my previous model and go through the steps to compile it? I am aware of this previous thread posted to this forum and would use this to guide my recompilation. I am fairly new to Linux and modelling so any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

if those libraries that already you install support the newest version, i think you just need to compile the new version of wrf and let the system use installed libraries, i ever try using wrfv4, 4.4, 4.5, using the same libraries and thats work very well

You should still be able to use the same libraries you used before. You can keep your compiled wrf v4.2.1 and just create another directory at that same level to compile the latest version.
