In the WPS, I replaced the LAI12 and GREENFRAC values using the MODIS product in the geo_em_d0* in the following pictures.

But, I got the bad vegetation fraction values from the wrfinput_d02 and wrflowinp_d02 after real.exe in following pictures .

The FVEG equal 0 in the d02 domain in wrfinput_d02. The range of SHDAVEG is 0 to 52.6 from wrfinput_d02 and The range of VEGFRA is 0 to 49.4 from wrflowinp_d02. It is very abnormal.

I don't know why the vegfra values exceeds 1 and The FVEG equal 0.

Do you have any comments about bad values from vegfra?

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi,
Can you attach your namelist.input file, namelist.wps file? Did you check the values in the met_em* and geo_em* files? Did everything look okay there? Please also let me know which version of WRF/WPS you're using. Thanks!

1.yes, I have attached the namelist.input and namelist.wps.
2.yes, I have checked the met_em* and geo_em*. The met_em* and geo_em* is normal values in vegetation fraction. Moreover, when I try to use the default GREENFRAC in WPS, I still got the bad vegetation fraction values from the wrfinput_d02 and wrflowinp_d02. But I still can successfully run wrf.exe. This is really confusing.
3. I used the WPS-4.6.0 and WRFV4.6.1.

Thank you for your support!

Thanks for sending those. I think the values you are seeing are normal. For the fractional variables, although you'd expect a value between 0 and 1, they are calculated such that the values are between 0 and 100. And then the value of FVEG is computed by the NoahMP routine, so it's set to 0 at the initial time. If you look at the value in your wrfout* files, it should no longer all be 0. If there are values, and as long as your output looks reasonable, it seems like you're probably okay to assume all went okay.

Ok, Thanks a lot! I understand.
