Aloha. I'm attempting to run WPS 4.0 with FV3 input rather than the 'standard' GFS. Ungrib is complaining about something but I can't tell what it is. Ferreting around for information leads me to believe it is not happy with the input in some sense but I'm looking for a thread to pull on to figure out what it's unhappy about. Any advice would be welcome. Here's the tail of the log output.

Aloha.
I may have found the problem and it seems to be in my download processing. I'm re-testing.

What are you using as input? If you are using the NCEP data to run the model, it won't work., It is an
entirely different format.

I don't think the FV3 model output is compatible with WRF. I suspect NCEP runs postprocessing to convert it
to the "standard" format.

Have you tried the FV3 parallel run output from ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov? It should be in a format that WRF
is happy about, as it is in the same format as the current, and soon to be retired, GFS model.
