Spin-up time for WRF Mesoscale Model

For short-term simulations of weakly forced convection, should spin-up time be considered when setting up a WRF model? I am a little confused as I see recommendations for spin-up time of between 6 - 12 hrs and no spin-up time but focus on initial conditions.

What is your ultimate goal? Real cases? Forecast Cases? Past weather events?

We recommend 9-12 hr of spin up time for WRF, especially when it is applied for convective study.
