SWDDIR, SWDDIF and SWDDNI in WRF-ARW.

I am new to WRF and I am trying to estimate solar photovoltaic energy.
I read that SWDOWN is GHI but I cannot figure out DNI and DHI as well as Azimuth and Zenith angles.
Can I get some guidance?

Modify the Solar section of WRF/Registry/Registry.EM_COMMON file. Ex. convert rd "SWDDNI" to rhd "SWDDNI" . Then re-compile!

I did that it is still not in my output. Please help

After you change the registry file, please do ./clean -an and recompile the code.

Does the 'h' position matter in the 'rd'? I did and compiled it, but I still did not get them in the out.

No, 'h' could be anywhere in the 8th column for a state variable.

By the way, which radiation scheme are you using? Note that not all radiation schemes calculate SWDDNI, SWDDIF, SWDDIR etc.

CAM, GODDARD, RRTMG are the schemes that can output the above variables.

I used RRTMG and still did not get them as my output variable. Could it be that I compiled it wrong?
