The file i have downloaded as tar file after zipping it there are nearly 5000 grib2 files are there. Then using of ./link_grib.csh is showing :for-each too many arguments error. So what can be the possible solution let me know.

Please take a look at those .tar files you downloaded and let me know what files are included.

Note that GFS data posted in the RDA website for public download contains both analysis and forecast products. Users need to choose data based on their specific need. It is not recommended and not necessary to download all the files.

Hello, i have check the data in that section where the analysis and forecast for every hour, accumulation are present. I want to run forecast data in WRF. Only downloading the analysis data will have a less number of files but downloading all the forecast files taking it to 4000 file numbers. Please let me know for the GFS run what file should i download?

If you run WRF for hindcast, I would suggest you start from the GFS analysis products, which are at 6-hour intervals. For WRF run, the boundary update at 6-hour is sufficient.

If you intend to run WRF for real-time weather forecast, you will have to obtain forecast data. Suppose you initialize your forecast at 00 UTC, then you will need to get GFS real-time forecast data at 00, 03,06, 09, etc.
