WRF-NMM domain setup

Dear all,
We need to use the WRF-NMM model, which runs on a rotated latitude-longitude projection, unlike ARW. I need to set up a domain covering latitude -30° to 45° and longitude 40° to 120° with 9 km resolution. I have a couple of questions regarding the domain setup:
  1. I read the user guide about ref_lat, ref_lon, ref_x, and ref_y, but I didn’t fully understand how to calculate these values. Could you please help explain how to determine them for this setup?
  2. How can I display/check the domain in WRF-NMM (similar to plotgrids.ncl in ARW)?

Thank you,
Sree.

Hi Sree,
Unfortunately we do not support the NMM version of WRF. It was supported by a different lab at NCAR, so we don't have a lot of experience with it. I have notes on the ref_lat, ref_lon, etc. variables, but they specify that the definitions are for WRF-ARW, which seems to indicate they would be different for NMM.

It's possible you may be able to contact someone in the NCAR/DTC lab to see if they can help with your questions, or perhaps another user on this forum may see this and be able to help.
