WRF SCM version - how to install and run

Hi everyone,

I see in some studies, a single-column model (SCM) version of WRF-chem.
Some of my research questions require an SCM config WRF-chem version. But I do not know where the code is available and if there is any formal documentation for how to run it.
Can anyone please help?

Best, Prerita

Hi Prerita,

My understanding is that the standard WRF code is capable of running as an SCM. Offhand, I would think your main concerns would be how you handle the boundary conditions. My advice would be to set up the SCM for a WRF only run, and then attempt to add the chemistry component. You would also likely benefit from contacting the authors of those studies you've found to see if they would share their namelist, etc.
