I found a version of WRF dedicated to solar energy, which is named wrf-solar.
This s/w is based on wrf v3.6.
Is anyone aware of this s/w and knows whether or not upgrades are planned to bring the s/w in line with WRF v4.x.?

Hi,
Per one of the developers, most of the developments of WRF-Solar are already in the WRF V4.0 official release. There are 2 primary parameterizations that are not yet in WRF4.0 - Deng's shallow cumulus scheme and FARMS radiative transfer parameterization. Deng's shallow cumulus is currently in the physics review process to be considered for inclusion into the next WRF release. FARMS is even further along in the process, but is still not officially included in the current WRF code.
