The USEPA National Exposure Research Lab has opportunity for Postdoc in Development and evaluation of the next generation global air quality modeling system. This is a federal term employment position (3-4yrs) at GS-12 ($77,382-$100,784) (US citizenship required). The postdoc will work as part of a team that is developing a new global air quality modeling system initially based on coupling the MPAS meteorology model and the CMAQ air quality model. The team is also redesigning the air quality component to achieve greater flexibility of application and efficiency of operation. Opportunities for research include software engineering, model development, model evaluation, and data analysis. Model development research areas include scale-aware physics modeling such as convective clouds and atmospheric boundary layer. Air-surface exchange modeling includes biogenic emissions, wind-blown dust, dry deposition and bi-directional surface flux. Model evaluation opportunities include global analyses using international observation networks, satellite retrievals, and field study campaign data. See full position description at https://cfpub.epa.gov/ordpd/PostDoc_Position.cfm?pos_id=1077 .

More information on the EPA postdoc program and how to apply is at https://cfpub.epa.gov/ordpd/PostDoc_Lab.cfm?Lab=NERL . Applications period is April 3 – May 2, 2019.
