The choice of sf_surface_physics when num_soil_layers=2

Hello ! I use CESM output to run WRF. I only want to use the first two soil layers data, however, I notice some suggestions that someone said if using Noah Land-Surface as sf_surface_physics, the num_soil_layers should be 4? If my num_soil_layers=2, what kind of sf_surface_physics should I choose?

The number of soil layers used in WRF is determined by the LSM scheme choice, not input data. So if you use Noah, then num_soil_layers = 4, regardless of the input data. 2 input layers are suboptimal (some interpolation erros will be inevitable) but it will work.
