The Advanced Study Program is pleased to announce that applications to the 2020 ASP colloquium "The Science of Subseasonal to Seasonal (S2S) Predictions" are now being accepted.
This colloquium is intended for advanced graduate students or post-docs whose expertise includes atmospheric and adjacent sciences. It will feature lectures from domestic and international experts on the fundamental processes leading to S2S predictability such as the Madden-Julian Oscillation, sudden stratospheric warmings, and interactions with the land and cryosphere.
This colloquium will provide attendees with an integrated conceptual understanding of numerical modeling, initialization strategies, ensemble configuration and applications of S2S-predictions. Attendees will also gain hands-on experience by applying probabilistic verification and process-based S2S diagnostics to numerical simulation output.
Approximately 25 students will be selected to participate in the colloquium. Travel costs (airfare, lodging, ground transportation, etc. will be covered for all selected participants.
As part of the colloquium a scientific workshop will take place July 13-17, 2020, during which invited speakers will present the latest results and challenges in this fast-moving field.
Applications for both students and participants of the scientific workshop are available here,

Colloquium Dates: July 6-24, 2020
Application Deadline: March 1, 2020
