Announcement for the Summer 2024 VIRTUAL Basic WRF Tutorial

The next WRF Tutorial class will be held: 15-19 July, 2024.

The tutorial WILL BE VIRTUAL. There will be no in-person component for this session.

There will only be one week of Basic WRF classes. There will be no additional related tutorials in the week following Basic WRF.

Location: Online (virtual)
Hosts: NCAR Mesoscale & Microscale Meteorology Laboratory
Tutorial Focus:
The tutorial will consist of lectures on various components of the WRF modeling system for the Advanced Research WRF (WRF-ARW), along with hands-on practice sessions. Topics include:
- WRF Preprocessing System
- WRF Dynamics and Numerics
- WRF Physics
- WRF Computing
- Post-processing and Graphical Tools


Due to limited resources, we can only accommodate a maximum of 70 participants. A wait list will be established for later approved applicants.
  • Apply early, as registration always exceeds capacity!
  • After you submit your application, you will receive an email acknowledging your submission. At that time your registration will be PENDING.
  • Decisions will be made starting June 30th.
  • If approved, you will receive another email to confirm your position in the course, and you will be required to make your payment at that time.
  • If your application is not approved, you will receive an email letting you know.
Registration fees:
Full-time U.S. University Students - $50
All Others - $100
