I am trying to familiarize myself with radiance data assimilation within WRFDA. Does anyone know what the auxiliary files WRFDA writes in output, named filtered_*.0001, filtered_*.0002, etc, are? I can't find any reference about them. They seems to be binary files and I do not see any of the scripts available within the var-tools useful to that end.
I would appreciate advice on this.
