The National Weather Authority for New Zealand (MetService) is seeking a technical people leader to lead, manage and delivering the atmospheric modelling research and development program at MetService - which seeks to continually improve the skill and usability of the atmospheric models across the company. and internationally.
As global scale modelling quickly approaches convective scale modelling, MetService is refocusing more and more on key differentiators in the deterministic, convective scale modelling space - including H3R, data assimilation and machine learning, as well as plan for future developments in the weather and forecasting space as new dynamical cores are developed.
If you're a highly motivated, organised people leader with a strong technical background in deterministic modelling who is willing to get in a work alongside the team then i would encourage you to apply.
We encourage flexible working and believe in giving back to our communities through company volunteer days - you have options of working in either Wellington, Auckland or the small west coast town of Raglan.
