help on where to start for local wind field estimation

Dear Community,

I am interested in obtaining a good estimation of the wind field around a certain geographical location in the USA. The challenge is to get the highest resolution as possible, say 10 m ? Is it possible to obtain that with WRF?

If not, can anyone direct me to the correct question or place?

I don't think it is practical to run WRF at 10m resolution. This is because (1) it is hard to obtain forcing data for such a high resolution, (2) many physics options may not work at this resolution, (3) computation cost could be huge, etc.

Please take a look at the document here to gain knowledge for appropriate application of WRF.

Thank you for your reply. I am trying to find forcing data for my 100x100x30m with 1 m resolution LES simulation for a particular site. I was hoping highest resolution WRF can give me that forcing data. I guess it is impossible, since a forcing data for 100x100 would require a resolution at 10-20 m.

You are right that it is hard to find forcing data for 1-m resolution WRF run. Even by running muitiple nesting case, it is still hard to reach that resolution.

I guess you need to re-disign your experiment.
