How do I modify the number of soil layers in a NOAH-MP parameter scheme?

I have now created wrfinput data with six layers of soil properties using code and data. However, the default noah-mp scheme only supports simulations with four layers of soil conditions. How should I modify it to support my simulation of six layers of soil information? Additionally, I've personally attempted modifications based on the offline Noah-MP modification method described at GitHub - RAbolafiaRosenzweig/NoahMP_nsoil_changes: changes made to Noah-MP to add additional soil layers. I successfully compiled and ran the modified WRF code, but the output soil parameters still only show data for four layers. I can't identify the issue. Please help me.
