I would like to initialize the idealized large eddy simulation with land use categories. Would I need to run the LES with an SCM? I read through the NAMELIST readme and saw that the SCM options allow users to set options that could simulate having a land use.
However, I don't think it is necessary to add land use categories to the idealized LES simulation. This is because the turbulence of the free CBL is driven/maintained by surface heat flux specified in the namelist.
