MPAS with RAP IC/BC

I had found another thread that seemed tangential, but also seemed like this was resolved. I am trying to run a limited-area MPAS simulation, using RAP as the initial and boundary conditions. I would ideally like to use the wrfnat files, but this latest go was with the wrfprs files. I get errors from the projection and soil fields, which I thought were solved. I just wanted to be sure if this was still an MPAS issue, or if maybe its my version of ungrib.

ERROR: Unrecognized projection code 6 when reading from ../intermediate/RAP:2024-07-04_09
ERROR: ********************************************************************************
ERROR: SOILHGT field not found in intermediate file ../intermediate/RAP:2024-07-04_09

MPAS cannot handle input data on Lambert map projection. We are working on this issue. It may take some time. Thanks for your patience.

Okay, I had seen this thread from 2019 that seemed to end positively. I think that's a pretty critical piece for limited-area simulations to replicate current WRF functionality, because I have definitely not seen the kind of efficiency gains that will allow everyone to switch over to global simulations (in my entire career, I have never had access to cheyenne/derecho). That was quite a few versions ago, but I would be willing to take a stab at re-integrating those solutions if there wasn't a massive problem with them.

Thanks for the information. Those modifications didn't go into MPAS. We have made it work with the lambert projection, but we haven't handle the soil data issue yet.
