questions about rsl files and tasks counts for nests

Two questions
1 - is there a way to only open the rsl.{error,out} files for task 0 and specify the others are only open on error? We are running with 17290 tasks and that is a lot of files
2 - If we run with a a large grid and a smaller nest, can we specify different layouts for each, using many less tasks for the smaller nest?

WRF is designed to output all RSL files. There is no option to allow the output of only task 0 rsl files.

2 - If we run with a a large grid and a smaller nest, can we specify different layouts for each, using many less tasks for the smaller nest?

Unfortunately the same number of processors must be implemented for parent and child domains.
