(RESOLVED) WPS link_grib.csh RAN OUT OF GRIB FILE SUFFIXES!

Dear WRF community,

I am trying to do WRF simulation ~20 years for climate research. It blocked when ./link_grib.csh $DIR_FNL/* using WPS to generate GRIBFILE.AAA files.

RAN OUT OF GRIB FILE SUFFIXES!
alpha: Subscript out of range.

There are 26677 files to be processed. However, with 3 alpha characters as suffix (.AAA~.ZZZ), file numbers are limited to be 13824.

Any solutions? Do I have to modify link_grib.csh as well as ungrib.F source code to expand the suffix (as .AAAA)? Or there is better solution.

The simplest solution may be to just process the GRIB files in batches with link_grib.csh and ungrib.exe, making changes to your namelist.wps file to set the range of dates to be processed for each batch.
