Resources for Simulating Methane Plumes

Hi! I am new to using WRF and I am trying to simulate methane plumes at different time steps with varied wind speeds in a controlled environment. Does anyone have any resources that a beginner like me can follow to do this? I found this blog, but it uses real data when I think it is best that I am in an idealized case (specifically the em_les case).

Any help is appreciated :)

Hi,
The blog link you shared is probably a good starting point, but instead of modifying module_initialize_real.F, you would modify module_initialize_ideal.F (or one of the others, if you're using an idealized case that uses a different initialization file (you can find all of them in the dyn_em directory). Obviously the edits will be slightly different, but they should be somewhat similar, and you can use their edits as a kind of template.

Hi there! I have almost the exact same need—I'm also starting with WRF and want to run idealized LES cases (em_les) to study methane plumes under controlled wind conditions.
Have you come across any beginner-friendly resources or step-by-step examples since you posted? If so, could you share them? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot and good luck with your simulations!
